PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns and Verizon have agreed to a multi-year extension that will turn US Airways Center into a “Technology Wonderland.” The new agreement is built on a collaborative vision to integrate cutting-edge technology that creates a door-to-door fan experience unlike any other in professional sports.
As part of the extension, the Suns and Verizon will launch a number of unique features within the team’s mobile app, implement iBeacons at US Airways Center, and create a “mobile wallet” that will house tickets, arena cash and other fan-friendly features.
“We take great pride in the fan experience we provide here at US Airways Center, and our new agreement with Verizon will take that to an unprecedented level,” said Jason Rowley, Suns president. “Verizon has been an incredible partner in our efforts to remain at the forefront of technology in sports, and we’re looking forward to continuing that with them for the foreseeable future.”
In the coming weeks, fans that have downloaded the Suns mobile app, powered by Verizon, will be able to access on-demand replays and highlights, as well as live game action from several different camera angles throughout the arena. With the app, fans can also view content on the new Suns digital network, RISE, including a postgame show being broadcast in collaboration with the team’s flagship radio partner, Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
In addition, the Suns will soon be implementing iBeacons at US Airways Center, at which point fans with the app will begin receiving push notifications for unique opportunities such as free seat upgrades, in-game experiences, and special offers throughout the arena. Fans must have both their GPS and Bluetooth enabled on their mobile device in order to receive this exclusive Suns content.
Ultimately, Suns fans will be able to create a “mobile wallet” that contains everything a fan needs when attending a game; tickets, a parking pass, arena cash to be used at concession stands or in the Team Shop, and more. The technology will also enable the use of aggregated data to give users exclusive offers as they travel to and from the arena, offering a true door-to-door experience.

Suns fans will also witness organic integration of the Verizon brand at US Airways Center, in the form of a center hung scoreboard that is now wrapped to resemble a Verizon tablet. A photo of the new scoreboard is attached.
In 2012, the Suns were the first NBA team to integrate wireless technology into its basketball operations, through the use of tablets, powered by Verizon, on the team’s bench.
