PHOENIX - The NABI Foundation, known for organizing high profile sporting events for Native American athletes, will be kicking off the NABI Basketball Invitational July 1-5. In its 12th year, the NABI tournament, presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community and sponsored by Yavapai Prescott Indian Tribe, Verizon and Nike N7, has become the largest basketball tournament in the world featuring Native and Indigenous high school youth.
This summer’s tournament will again feature a College and Career Fair, “Team Meet & Greet” pool party and educational seminars. The tournament will conclude with the Gold Division Championship games at US Airways Center, home of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury.
The NABI Invitational games kick-off on Tuesday, July 2 at nine Phoenix area gyms. Gold Division Championship games will be played at US Airways Center on Saturday, July 5.
Entry into the US Airways Center Championship games will be FREE! “Our goal is to pack the house at USAC with basketball enthusiasts. Our fans will truly enjoy the games, culture and spirit of our tournament,” says Mark West, NABI Foundation Co-founder and assistant coach of the Phoenix Suns.
